Find out what some of our employees think about working at Thames Water.

Andy Popple, Senior Project Manager

Andy Popple, Senior Project Manager I manage a range of projects providing new water sources for the growing population we serve in London. Before that, I was heavily involved in running our Victorian Mains Replacement programme, in which we're reducing leakage across the capital by renewing our oldest pipes.

I enjoy the variety of projects I work on across different parts of London, and the fact that I get to work with a wide range of people.

It's also good to work for a company that is making a difference. The engineering schemes I manage are vital to ensure that in the long term we can continue to supply the water needed by residents and businesses across the capital.

It's good to know that the work I'm involved in is improving supplies for our customers, as well as improving the environment.

Diane Howarth, Pollution Prevention Team Manager

Diane Howarth, Pollution Prevention Team Manager I began on our graduate programme, which allowed me four six-month placements in different parts of the business. I covered a wide range of areas, working in the water and waste teams, as well as asset planning.

That gave me a great opportunity to discover which bits of the company I most enjoyed working in, and I then moved into Pollution Control, first as a team member and then moving up to people management.

Our team is responsible for tracing and preventing pollution from homes and businesses, which could otherwise damage local rivers and streams.

It's very satisfying to see a project through from beginning to end. In my case, it means a real visible result - seeing a clean river rather than a polluted one - which provides a benefit both to the environment and the local community.

Jim Webb, Key Account Relationship Manager

Jim Webb, Key Account Relationship Manager My role involves managing relationships with some of our biggest business customers, such as London Underground, Honda and BMW.

I've been with Thames Water since it first began, and have worked in the water industry for over 35 years. I started out as a waste inspector, detecting leaks and arranging for their repair.

Down the years, my job has allowed me to do a lot of the things I enjoy - working outside, helping people and to an extent being my own boss. I've also changed roles several times, and have enjoyed the diversity that brings. I've worked with good people, too, and made some lifetime friendships.

For the past ten years I've worked in our key accounts team. The role has provided me with a variety of experiences, challenges and genuine job satisfaction.

Customers' issues differ so widely that I need to think on my feet and use the thorough understanding of the water industry that I've built up over the years. No two days are the same.
