Saving water

We have a responsibility to ensure we can provide enough water for our customers now and in the future.

Our policy is to encourage conservation while researching and developing sustainable resources to meet customers' needs well into the future.

We encourage customers to think carefully about the way they use water. Changes in the way we live, including more power showers, dishwashers, washing machines and smaller households, mean we use more water than ever before. Each person in the Thames Water area uses, on average, 160 litres a day compared to 140 litres in the 1980's.

Water is becoming more precious than ever before. It's important that we do not take it for granted and that we all learn to use water wisely to ensure there is enough for everyone in years to come.

Water saving habits started now will become a way of life for the future.
