Water level summary - November 2008

Our water level diagram summarises the latest water resources situation within the Thames region.

  • Rainfall across the Thames catchment from the 1 November to 30 November 2008 was 80.2 mm (107% of the 125-year historic monthly average, 75.2 mm).
  • River flows peaked following heavy rainfall earlier in the month but generally fluctuated around average throughout November.
  • The Regional Soil Moisture Deficit (SMD) on 30 November was 5mm, which is 16mm wetter than average for the end of November (end of November Environment Agency Long Term Average is 21mm).
  • Groundwater levels throughout the month were generally above average in the Thames region.
  • Reservoir storage on 30 November 2008 for London as a whole was 94% (Thames Valley 97% & Lee Valley 81%). Lee Valley storage is lower than would normally be expected due to maintenance reasons. Farmoor storage was 92%.
